Audi presents the new S3 Cabriolet 2014, a convertible version of its hot-hatch. It has four-wheel drive, 300 hp, 0-60 in 5.4 seconds and the top “only” takes 18 seconds to raise or lower.
Audi S3 will, for the first time in the history of the model, be available as a convertible. Built on the already famous MQB platform from the Volkswagen Group, the new body range enjoys the popularity of the S3 platform to enter in a new niche for customers who wanted a compact 4WD convertible with 300 hp.
The drive train provides an average consumption of 7.1 liters per 100 km, and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.
Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, and there are no speed restrictions concerning the fabric retractable ceiling.
Speaking of the roof, it can be raised or lowered in just 18 seconds at the push of a button at speeds up to 50 km/h. For comparison, the car is so fast that it can speed up to three times from 0 to 100 in the time required to operate the roof. The roof itself is made of magnesium, aluminum and high strength steel, in addition to the related fabric.
Deliveries of the new Audi S3 Cabriolet will debut this summer, the starting price on the market in Germany is set at 48,500 euros. The list of optional equipment includes items such as Bang & Olufsen audio system, cruise control, blind spot monitoring system, monitoring system to maintain lane, Active Park Assist and safety system Audi pre-sense.
