Nissan presented the Los Angeles Auto Show CrossCabriolet Murano model. This is the first convertible SUV with permanent four-wheel drive, Nissan claims.
Nissan has made the world’s first convertible SUV Murano’s platform. The model kept unchanged until the front windshield, then the changes begin. Retractable roof is made of cloth and folds in the trunk like a modern convertible. The model has only two doors, so the dream of those who wanted a four-door convertible will have to wait. Propulsion is provided by a 3.5-liter V6 engine providing 265 hp and 336 Nm.
The unit comes with a V6 engine with six-speed CVT transmission. The performance of the new Murano versions have not yet been disclosed, but we expect acceleration times bigger when the convertible conversion required a series of reinforcement in the body. In terms of safety benefits of ABS model with Brake Assist, EBD, advanced airbag system for the Nissan – which integrates front airbags and two-stage belt force sensor that detects the front passenger occupant weight and mounted side airbags in the doors. In the unfortunate event of a rollover, rollover sensors will activate the special of two metal bars that come out of the body to protect occupants and curtain airbags will also assist in this matter.
CrossCabriolet Murano’s debut is ready for 2011 in the United States of America. Model is likely to be offered in Europe. For now, no manufacturer has announced a future competitor to the Murano’s CrossCabriolet, a sign that the Japanese will have a monopoly on this niche a good time.
